Pediatric dentistry in cincinnati

Fun for the whole family!

We love providing dental care for patients of all ages in our family-friendly office. Dr. Durner and our staff want your child to have a fun, positive, fear-free experience that gives them a lifetime of confidence and trust in the dentist. We want kids to look forward to going to the dentist!

During your child’s appointment, we’ll clean away bacteria, plaque, and tartar and polish your child’s teeth. Dr. Durner will do an exam and make sure your child is cavity-free and their teeth are erupting on schedule.

The American Association of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that children start going to the dentist when their first tooth erupts or they turn one year old, whichever comes first.

During your child’s first visit, Dr. Durner will examine your child’s mouth to check for any issues and answer any questions you may have. If your child already has most of his or her baby teeth, our team will perform a cleaning. We may also recommend x-rays, if necessary.

Your child should see Dr. Durner at Northside Dental for an exam and cleaning every six months. Regular visits help keep your child’s mouth and smile healthy, and they allow us to make sure their teeth are developing properly.

Many back teeth have deep grooves that bacteria and sugar get stuck in. These grooves are so narrow that even a toothbrush can’t properly clean them. This leads to staining , cavities, and expensive dental work.

Sealants cover these deep grooves in both baby and adult teeth. We recommend them because they help prevent cavities and can save teeth from invasive and expensive dental work. Sealants are tooth-colored and not easily noticeable. They may last several years but need to be replaced every once in awhile.

Fluoride helps to strengthen tooth surfaces, making them more resistant to cavities. It can even help reverse cavities in their early stages. We use a strong, concentrated gel that is applied directly to your child’s teeth. This gel is recommended even if your child’s toothpaste contains fluoride, since it is much stronger and more effective.

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) recommends fluoride as a safe and effective treatment for preventing cavities in children.
