what to expect at your first visit

We’re so glad to have you here. We want your visit to be stress-free and relaxed, so please let us know if there’s anything we can do to make you more comfortable. We’re happy to grab you a pillow or blanket, get you something to drink, or play whatever music you want to listen to.

During your first appointment, our team will perform a thorough, complete exam. This exam includes x-rays, photographs of your teeth, and an oral cancer screening. Dr. Durner will combine this data with a comprehensive check of your gums, teeth, and bite, taking specific care to address any of your concerns. Dr. Durner will go over his findings with you in a manner that is clear and easy to understand. We will give you options and come up with a treatment plan for you. We can often do a cleaning at this first exam, however, if gum disease is detected, we will recommend a more thorough treatment that may take a few appointments to get your mouth healthy and disease-free.

We understand that many people have fear and apprehension about going to the dentist, so as we mentioned before, please let us know if there’s anything we can do to make you more comfortable. We offer sedation options for patients with dental anxiety that would like to be more relaxed. Dr. Durner is happy to discuss these options with you.
